I think that I’ve now seen every bit of footage first outed in the BSG trailer I posted before Christmas. It was short, I know, but I had hoped that it would look a bit further forward than four episodes. That being said, it mis-represents much of what it depicts. Very clever editing on the part of those who prepared it.
Right, enough of that. Spoilers follow. Consider yourself warned. So, the Colonial Fleet and the rebel Cylons have arrived together at Earth to find the place a nuclear wasteland. The landing party (read: most of the “main” characters, though sometimes I wonder if that’s a fair designation in a show with so much acting talent and such a convoluted plot) wander around, taking measurements and feeling generally depressed.
The Final Four have visions that lead them to believe they had past lives on Earth and were present when the nukes went off. If you didn’t have enough proof, here it is: Tigh, Tyrol, Anders and Foster have reincarnated and are therefore Cylons. Furthermore, Tigh sees that in his previous life, he was married to a model that looked like his current (late) wife, Ellen.
According to the Battlestar Wiki, this is sufficient proof that she is the Fifth. But I have my doubts. Starbuck and Leoben go off into the woods and discover what is arguably her Viper, with severely burnt human remains. This backs up her claim of having been to Earth in “Crossroads, part II”.
Including Ellen Tigh, that makes thirteen skinjobs. And I still have suspicions about Baltar. My hypothesis: humanity and skinjobs are a lot closer genetically than anybody really understands.
