Just quickly. In an effort to stay “hip” and “with it” (despite turning 29 today), I have joined the Twitter crowd.
It’s a nifty little thing that, on the surface, seems to be nothing more than a very limited self-promotion platform. “Microblogging”, it’s called; posting every little minutiae about your life. It’s the Facebook status update, without the Facebook.
Actually, that’s kinda why I like it. Facebook’s good for people you know, but not really for people you don’t. And it’s getting cluttered with so much junk these days. I was quite dubious about Twitter initially, but after several weeks of regular use, I’m really enjoying it. Most people are quite welcoming (I’m sure there’s flamewars, but it’s easy to turn those off by blocking the idiots), and you connect with people you wouldn’t otherwise meet.
Today, I posted (sorry, tweeted) quick notes about my experience on the recently-opened train line from Epping to Chatswood, and realised that it had started to become part of my regular habits. I guess that my next toy will probably be a phone with better internet capabilities than my Nokia 6110 Navigator. I really like mobile data.
Anyway, for the record, I now have Twitter integrated into Conjunction and Facebook. Feel free to follow me.
