Given that Leichhardt is at the heart of Sydney’s Italian dining experience, one would not necessarily expect to find a Brazillian restaurant located therein packed to the rafters. Nonetheless, Braza does a roaring trade — and with good reason.
There is no a la carte menu. For $38 per head, you get all you can eat from the charcoal barbecues visible to the dining room. It’s an amazing experience, and the food is very moreish. Included in the list of meats are:
- Rump Cap
- Beef Rib
- Thick Flank
- Rump
- Sausage
- Chicken Hearts
- Chicken Wings
- Chicken Thigh
- Pork Ribs
- Pork Neck
- Pork Leg
- Lamb Leg
- Lamb Rump
- Prawns
- Fish of the day
The flavour and cooking standard were so good that I was preparing to try the items I normally would cross the street to avoid, like the chicken hearts. But then the dessert was served – barbecued pineapple flavoured with cinnamon and sugar. Amazing stuff. I’m definitely going to try to replicate that at home.
My party certainly ate enough to forestall any plans to adjourn to another part of Leichhardt for gelato and coffee. I’ll be organising a followup expedition. Who’s in?

I’m always up for the mass consumption of meat!
