Alice and Kev

A friend suggested that I have a look at a Sims 3 experiment called Alice and Kev. It tells the story of a homeless girl and her father, sleeping on park benches and eating on the charity of their neighbours.

Although it started off as a bit of a laugh, it quickly became a very touching drama that raised social awareness of real-life issues. The whole run is not very long, but the author is both a good writer and a great shot with the Sims 3 camera. I found it very touching and recommend you take a few minutes to read it.

Being a better MAG player

Ok, so having sunk about a month into MAG, I think I’ve got a good handle it. This doesn’t mean that I’m the best player out there, or have a magic formula for winning, levelling quickly, or even know the best glitches to exploit. Instead, I offer some tips on engaging the game the way I think it was meant to be enjoyed.

Rockin’ hard this xmas!

According to Kotaku, Harmonix will be delivering Rock Band 3 in time for Christmas:

Viacom President and CEO Philippe Dauman officially outed Rock Band 3, due for release this Chrismas, when it will “will innovate and revolutionise the music genre” all over again.

I know something I’ll be asking Santa for this year 🙂

Massive Action Gaming!

Once again, I buy a game, get caught up in it, and forget to post. This time the culprit is Massive Action Game (MAG).

This was touted as being a new breed of co-operative multiplayer FPS… and in many respects it is. You do actually play games of 128-a-side (total player count: 256), and you are tasked with working together to attack or defend specific objectives in the same map.

Mass Effect 2

Ok, I’m only writing this because I’m not playing. And the reason I’m not playing is that I’m at work on a Sunday. There’s a bunch of other posts I need to get out quickly too. Hopefully, I won’t lose momentum, and you’ll see those soon.

Mass Effect 2

Mass Effect 2 picks up several years after the first game. Commander Shepard has joined the shadowy Cerberus network to continue his fight against the Reapers, a race of sentient machines that raise galactic civilisation only to destroy it.
